“Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul, be just another human soul.” – Carl Jung
Born and raised in Brazil, Christiane joins the Brookdale family as Primary Counselor, with a belief and passion to help others change their lives, despite their disease of addiction.
With an extensive background in mental health and substance abuse treatment, Christiane brings a diverse understanding to our clinical team, as she has studied and practiced in both Brazil and the United States. A graduate of Universidade FUMEC in Brazil, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2003. Currently, Christiane is attending Capella University for her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
She began working in the field in 2003, when she started as a Psychology intern in an inpatient treatment facility. From 2006-2012, Christiane had a private practice in Brazil, where she provided psychotherapy to children and adults suffering from psychological distress, mental illness and substance abuse, in conjunction with a psychologist position at UNIMED Hospital from 2010-2012.
Alongside these positions, her love for language drove her to study English as a second language, allowing her the opportunity to work as a consecutive translator, interpreter and ESL teacher from 2001-2012. In this arena, she also worked as an interpreter for United Nations business round tables, helped translate projects at FIAT, as well as other companies in the pharmaceutical and educational field. After moving to the United States in 2012, Christiane volunteered at the VNA Hospice of Monroe County, providing support services such as companionship, friendly visiting and bedside sitting to patients.
Outside of work, Christiane enjoys working out, yoga, meditation, hiking, reading and learning about psychology, counseling and anything that can help her and empower others. She says her family and friends are essential in her life, and she spends as much time as she can with them. She is also loves to learn about new cultures and traveling, whether it be to other countries or a small town nearby.
As Primary Counselor for Brookdale, Christiane wants to work together with our team to provide exceptional patient care, based on compassion, respect and dignity. She believes every individual heals and is empowered by connecting with others in healthy ways and having the opportunity to tell their story. “One of my goals is to assist our patients to recover and instill hope, so they can rewrite their stories and live a Life…Recovered.”
