“Believe deep down in your heart that you are destined to do great things.” -Joe Paterno, Penn State Head Football Coach
With over 15 years of experience in substance abuse treatment and the behavioral health field, Chad Anuszewski comes to Brookdale with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in helping those struggling with addiction. Chad knew from a very young age what he was destined to do, as he grew up watching and working with his parents at Allied Services Vocational Department, a worksite for physically and mentally handicapped persons. Inspired by their dedication, Chad had an admiration to help others even as a young boy.
Chad is originally from Peckville, PA, just outside the city of Scranton, and graduated from Valley View High School in Archbald, PA. An alumnus of Penn State University, Chad obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in 1996 and went on to acquire a MS in Community Counseling from the University of Scranton in 2006. Chad is also on the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Masters in Addiction Counseling (MAC).
Before entering the social sciences, Chad worked as an environmental scientist and pharmaceutical scientist, but after overcoming his own personal battle with substance abuse, made the decision to return to school to focus on Community Counseling. While attending Grad School, Chad began working in the addiction treatment industry as a patient care technician for Marworth and upon graduation, he was hired as a primary counselor, a position he held from 2006 to 2011. In 2009, he opened his own practice, focusing on substance use and co-occurring disorders and was an adjunct professor at the University of Scranton from 2008 to 2013. Prior to coming to Brookdale, Chad has also been involved in various contracted positions and program start-ups.
Chad is a family-man at heart, spending most of his free time with his wife, Maria, 11-year-old daughter, Emma, and 8-year-old son, Jonathan. He is the President of Jonathan’s Little League Organization and the coach for his baseball and football teams, and is also involved in Emma’s gymnastics, art, and musical activities. He and his family enjoy many outdoor activities such as fly-fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, mountain biking, and gardening. They also take routine trips to Penn State Football games, local SWB Railriders games and SWB Penguins games.
